Based on Vermeer’s classic “Girl With a Pearl Earring,” my whimsical version features a very stylized, close-up pose of a belly dancer in long blond "dreads" and has beads, Swarovski crystals and pearls sewn onto the canvas and of course a pearl earring. Many tribal-style belly dancers wear long dreads when they perform, often made of yarn.
