Frida Kahlo (1907-1954) is considered to be one of Mexico’s most important artists; her work was very personal, much of it self-portraits, & often surreal. She was a very complicated woman, bisexual, & greatly affected by bad health due to polio as a child & the life-long, debilitating effects of a bus crash at age 18. She was married, twice, to artist Diego Rivera.
